I'm a flower farmer!

In the 7 years since having my first child, through all of the iterations of myself—leaving my corporate career to focus on my family, leaving my birth doula career to not be gone during the middle of the night—the garden is where I’ve found myself. My life is literally at the center of all of the people around me, but the garden has always been just for me. It’s my greatest passion, source of peace and relentless teacher. It’s also something I love sharing with others.

I can't tell you where the idea to grow flowers came from. Truly, one day in the middle of setting up my first fruit and veggie CSA, I just decided I would also be growing a ton of flowers. And I did!

Now, with the exception of a small corner of fruits and veggies for my family, flowers are all I grow. TONS of flowers. And continue to dedicate more and more of my yard to flowers each season.

My passion for flowers has pushed me to do things even when I’m scared—selling bouquets in the town coffee shop, buckets to a local floral designer and doing pop-up bouquet bars. 

Now that I’ve gotten a taste of what this little business of mine has grown into, I’m more determined and excited than ever. I get to show my kids that you can do what you love and make an income while also giving back to your community. I get to gift bouquets to random strangers in the coffee shop, and it makes their day. I get to help spread the word about other local flower farmers and help support their businesses by sharing my flowers when they need them. I get to donate to a local nonprofit aimed at supporting women and children.

I'm just so excited for next seasons' flowers. And I especially can’t wait to share them with you and your family and friends. Welcome to The Backyard Farm!
